Study Program Doctorate


The Regional and Rural Development Planning Study Program (PS PWD) is one of the oldest study programs at the Postgraduate School, Bogor Agricultural University (IPB), offering a doctoral program. PS-PWD was established to respond to the need for reliable human resources who understand the complex and multidimensional issues of regional and rural planning. The emphasis is not only on the importance of understanding the spatial aspects of regional and rural development planning, but also on economic planning, politics and governance, as well as natural resource and environmental management in the context of regional and rural management. The PWD Doctoral Program also equips students with philosophical and historical principles and critical and holistic approaches to understanding and solving regional and rural development issues. PS PWD is officially licensed by the Directorate General of Higher Education Decree No. 584/DIKTI/Kep/1993, dated October 2, 1993. In accordance with Rector's Decree 037/K13/OT/2006, the home base of the PWD Doctoral Program is located at the Faculty of Economics and Management.

Vision

To become a leading and globally-minded study program in producing high-quality human resources with doctoral degrees, as well as in developing science and technology in the field of sustainable regional and rural development planning in tropical areas.

Mission

1. To provide doctoral education in regional and rural development planning through a comprehensive and holistic approach by integrating scientific philosophy into economics, social sciences, environmental sciences, institutional sciences, political sciences, and spatial sciences.

2. Continuously developing knowledge and methodology in the field of regional and rural development planning by adapting to the dynamics of scientific developments both now and in the future.

3. Building a network of cooperation in the field of regional and rural development planning with various universities, research institutions, government agencies, and other institutions at home and abroad in an effort to develop science and research or studies.
