Study Program Magistrate
The Master Study Program of Microbiology (PS S2 MIK), Department of Biology, Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences, IPB University, has been established since 2007. Before 2007 (1993-2007), PS S2 MIK joined the Study Program of Biology, Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences, IPB University. PS S2 MIK was legitimated in 2007 through Rector Decree No. 027/K13/PP/2007 at the Department of Biology. PS S2 MIK is the only Master program in Microbiology in Indonesia. PS S2 MIK is found to anticipate society and science development needs. The awareness of scientific society towards the dependency of macroorganisms on microorganisms support the essential role of microorganism in advance. The availability of excellent academic staff and infrastructures support the study program of Microbiology to strengthen the discovery of novel tropical microbe-based knowledge and technologies and further commercialization development in a sustainable way built upon the principle of conservation and life safety to preserve life quality.
To become an excellent center of master education in Microbiology by the year 2027, with eminent in research and development of tropical microbiology regarding basic science, biodiversity, and biotechnology, which purposedly lead to the development of environmentally friendly agribusiness and bioindustries.
Mission1. Education. To create high-qualified master graduates in Microbiology who play an essential role in developing science and technology and are actively involved in national development. 2. Research. To develop the basic knowledge in microbiology towards microbial diversity management and the application of biotechnology that support various fields, including agriculture, industry, health, and environment. 3. Community Service. To play an essential role in the development of agriculture and industry based on the management and prospection of biodiversity in a sustainable way for the prosperity of Indonesian people and the world in general.
