The Department of Silviculture of IPB has a mandate to develop tropical silviculture science and technology that supports the sustainable and productive management of natural forests and plantation forests, through a balance-oriented approach between ecological, economic, and social functions. This mandate includes the development of environmentally friendly forest cultivation and maintenance methods, human resource capacity building, and the provision of innovative solutions for sustainable forest management. As a center of excellence in the field of tropical silviculture, the department also plays an active role in addressing forestry challenges at the national and global levels through education, research, and community service that is of high quality, professional and competitive.
