Study Program Undergraduate
The history of the establishment of the Animal Product Technology Study Program (PS THT) is inseparable from the beginning of the establishment of the Department of Animal Production Science and Technology (DIPTP) as its management unit. The IPTP Department was previously the Department of Animal Production Science (IPT) which was born simultaneously with the establishment of the Faculty of Animal Husbandry, Bogor Agricultural University on September 1, 1963. The establishment of the IPT Department was legalized by the Decree of the Minister of Higher Education and Science (PTIP) No. 92/1963 and ratified by the President of the Republic of Indonesia (based on Decree No. 279/1965). In 1975, the Faculty of Animal Husbandry, IPB, began opening a postgraduate program under the name of the Animal Science Study Program (PTK) which held Masters and Doctoral Program education. Further development, in 1986 the Department of IPT opened a 2-year diploma study program (D2) Animal Husbandry Technician with three fields of study, namely: Meat Livestock Business Technician (TUTD), Dairy Livestock Business Technician (TUTP) and Poultry Livestock Business Technician (TUTU), which became a 3-year diploma program (D3) in 1990. The development of the livestock industry and livestock processing industry encouraged the Department of IPT in 1994 to open the THT Study Program. The establishment of the THT Study Program was legalized by the Decree of the Minister of Education and Culture of the Republic of Indonesia No: 0311/U/1994. The THT Study Program is a development of the Animal Production Technology Study Program which emphasizes the process of handling and processing livestock products on a community and industrial scale, both in the form of food and non-food livestock products. Since then, the Undergraduate Study Program managed by the Department of IPT is the Bachelor of Animal Production Technology Study Program (PS-TPT) and the Bachelor of Animal Product Technology Study Program (PS-THT). The name of the IPT Department in 2003 changed to the Department of Animal Production Science and Technology (IPTP) based on Rector's Decree No. 120/K13/OT/2003. Along with the dynamics of IPB's development which experienced a change in status to a State-Owned Legal Entity University (PT-BHMN) in 2005, IPB carried out efficiency including by structuring departments as stipulated through IPB Rector's Decree No. 001/K13/PP/2005 and the implementation of a major-minor curriculum. After an evaluation, it was determined that the THT Study Program must merge with the TPT Study Program in a major-minor curriculum. This major-minor curriculum provides competencies to students that include: livestock cultivation, handling of main products, by-products, waste, processing and socio-economic aspects. The implementation of the Major-Minor curriculum began in 2006 for undergraduate programs, thus the THT Study Program was closed since 2006. In line with the demands of the industry and opportunities for livestock product technology competencies that are increasingly needed by the industry and other stakeholders in regional and national development, even the development of livestock product science and technology at the international level, IPB has reopened the Animal Product Technology Study Program since 2016 with Rector's Decree No. 106/IT3/PP/2016 dated May 9, 2016. The issuance of the establishment document for the THT Study Program was conducted through reviews starting from the division, department, faculty, faculty senate, IPB Academic Development Directorate, strategic studies by the IPB Vice Rector, and academic reviews by the Academic Senate. The opening of the THT Study Program can be carried out based on the Rector's Decree because IPB's status is one of the legal entities that has the right to open and close study programs. Furthermore, IPB submitted registration and minimum accreditation to BAN PT. In 2017, the THT Study Program obtained the minimum accreditation stipulated in Decree No. 2429/SK/BAN-PT/Akred-Min/S/VIII/2017. In its journey and development from its inception until now, DIPTP has always been based on the vision and mission it carries by always striving to be adaptive to the demands and developments of science and technology, as well as the changes that occur. The IPTP Department continues to develop the latest innovations and technologies through collaboration with all units, namely: divisions within the DIPTP environment and in collaboration with departments and research centers at IPB as well as existing stakeholders so that it can play a role in efforts to build sustainable livestock for the welfare of the nation and state.
