Study Program Undergraduate


The Bioinformatics Study Program is an undergraduate program under the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences (FMIPA) that began admitting students in 2024. The program has received a “Good” Accreditation Rating from LAM INFOKOM based on Decree No. 015/SK/LAM-INFOKOM/Ak.Min/S/II/2025. The Bioinformatics Study Program is designed to address the growing demand for experts capable of integrating computer science and molecular biology in the analysis of large-scale biological data.

Graduates of this program are prepared to possess competencies in various professional fields, including bioinformatics software and database development, research in bioinformatics and molecular biology, bioinformatics practice, biotechnology practice, omics big data analysis, biomedical practice, and genomics-based plant breeding.

These competencies reflect the graduates’ readiness to face the challenges of the big data era in the context of biology and health, whether in software development, research, or the application of bioinformatics in agriculture, biomedicine, and biotechnology.

Mission

1. To deliver high-quality undergraduate and postgraduate education programs in bioinformatics with outstanding recognition at the national and international levels.


2. To conduct research in bioinformatics aimed at generating scientific novelty and innovative potential that support national advancement.


3. To carry out research-based community engagement activities in bioinformatics that provide meaningful impact and benefits to society.
